Hiking and biking holidays in Merano, the paradise for nature lovers who like spending their holidays with sports and movement in the fresh air! Discover the fascinating variety of the scenery around your wellness hotel in Merano… by foot or by bike!

Hiking at its best! Challenging tours for experienced climbers, relaxed walks and hiking excursions for those you want to rest and admire the wonders of nature – the surroundings of Merano offer a variety for nature lovers. Here are our favourite excursions:

The „Waalweg“ of Maia

Walking time: approx. 2 hours
Level of difficulty: easy
From Merano we go to Scena and on the „Waalweg“ of Maia and the Riffianer Path back.

At the Schennerhof turn into the Katnau path and Leiter path, passing the Innerleiterhof and leading upwoards to the „Waalweg“ (ancient trail) of Maia near the Ofenbauer farm. Follow the path in northern direction to the Schnuggenbach creek and Petauner farm, until you reach the Riffianerweg and go back to Scena.

The famous Tappeinerweg in Merano

Walking time: approx. 2,5 hours
Level of difficulty: easy
This most famous, easy walking path in Merano is a plain trail along the hillside.

The „Promenade“ was built in 1893 by the well-known Val Venosta doctor Franz Tappeiner from his own resources. Starting from Gratsch eastwards along the Küchelberg hill, the path leads to the Gilfschlucht in Merano and joins the summer or winter promenade. Across the Passerpromenade you reach the Theater Square in the city centre. You can return by bus.

Those you feel happiest on two wheels, are in the right spot in Merano and its surroundings! Some proposals for bike tours around the Burggräflerhof:

Crossing the Val Venosta on two wheels

Duration:
Level of difficultiy: medium

A fantastic bike tour across the longest valley of South Tyrol.

You reach the farthest point of this beautiful valley, Malles. From here you can return to Merano by bike, crossing the idyllic localities Silandro, Laces, Naturno and Lagundo.
